PUBLIC EMPLOYEES FEDERATION ENDORSES GOVERNOR CUOMO FOR RE-ELECTION

As Federal Government Rolls Back Workers Rights, Public Employees Federation Backs Gov. Cuomo as Antidote to Trump’s America – Citing Proven Record of National Leadership Strengthening the Labor Movement in the Wake of Janus, Protecting Workers’ Ability to Collectively Bargain and Organize, Fighting for Better Wages and Working Conditions, and Making Union Dues Deductible from State Taxes

New York, NY – The Public Employees Federation today endorsed Governor Andrew M. Cuomo for a third term. PEF represents 54,000 professional, scientific, and technical employees across New York State. As Trump seeks to roll back workers’ rights, PEF praised the Governor’s national leadership strengthening the labor movement in the wake of the Supreme Court’s devastating Janus decision, protecting workers’ ability to collectively bargain and organize, fighting for better wages and working conditions and making union dues deductible from state taxes.

Wayne Spence, President, Public Employees Federation, said, “Governor Cuomo stands strong with the more than 50,000 hardworking men and women across New York who make government work for the people. While rabid, anti-union forces try to threaten and destroy our movement, Governor Cuomo has our backs. He has proven to be a champion who will fight for workers’ rights and ensure that union labor in New York is stronger than ever. The Governor has stood up and said we will never let union busting tactics win. PEF stands side by side with Andrew Cuomo and we are proud to endorse him for a third term.”

Governor Cuomo said, “Union labor built our middle class and it is union labor that is going to strengthen our state and lift up working people. New York will continue to lead the way in fighting back against the Trump administration as they seek to undo the progress we have achieved. The brothers and sisters of PEF deliver critical government services every day and keep the state of New York moving forward. I am proud to accept their endorsement and I will do everything in my power to strengthen and protect union labor in the face of these concerted attacks from Washington.”

PEF joins the growing list of elected officials, unions, women's and LGBTQ rights and progressive groups backing the governor, representing millions of New Yorkers statewide. This includes:
