EMPIRE STATE DEVELOPMENT ANNOUNCES EXPANSION OF COMMUNICATIONS EQUIPMENT MANUFACTURER DYNALEC CORPORATION IN WAYNE COUNTY
Company Will Add up to 12,000 Square-Feet to its Existing Plant in the Village of Sodus and Add at Least 8 New Jobs
Investment Complements “Finger Lakes Forward” – The Region’s Comprehensive Strategy to Revitalize Communities and Grow the Economy
Empire State Development (ESD) today announced that communications equipment manufacturer Dynalec Corporation is ready to grow its’ operations in Wayne County. The company will expand operations at its Rotterdam location in the Village of Sodus by adding up to 12,000 square-feet to its existing facility, a move that will allow Dynalec to substantially increase production in an effort to better meet the worldwide demand for its products. The expansion project is now underway and is expected to be completed in mid-March 2019. The company has committed to creating at least 8 new jobs. Investing in successful companies supports the strategy of the Finger Lakes Forward initiative which is working to revitalize communities by supporting the regional economy.

Founded in 1960, Dynalec Corporation is one of the nation’s leading manufacturers of shipboard systems for communication, navigation and switching. They build high-quality, standard and custom products for military and commercial use, including sound powered telephones. Its’ customers include Department of Defense agencies, military and commercial shipyards, international navies, mining/oil rigging manufacturers and telecommunication companies.
James Ryan, Dynalec Attorney said, “Dynalec Corporation is excited about its expansion in Wayne County and more specifically, in the Village of Sodus. The surrounding community has supported Dynalec for over 40 years and we are proud to call the Village of Sodus our home. Construction of our new facility will allow us to meet the growing worldwide demand for our products, while expanding our highly technical workforce to remain a leader in onboard ship communication. We would like to thank Empire State Development for their assistance in allowing us to reinvest in this special community.”
To ensure that the company would proceed with the project and create jobs, Empire State Development has offered up to $250,000 through the Excelsior Jobs Tax Credit Program in exchange for the job creation commitments. The total project cost has been placed at $1.045 million.

It will allow the company to increase its production and better meet worldwide demand for its products, and it also shows that manufacturers can grow and thrive in our region. As State Senator, I will keep working to ensure that manufacturers such as Dynalec can grow jobs and succeed in our region and in our state.”

Accelerating Finger Lakes Forward
Today’s announcement complements “Finger Lakes Forward,” the region’s comprehensive blueprint to generate robust economic growth and community development. The State has already invested more than $6.1 billion in the region since 2012 to lay the groundwork for the plan – investing in key industries including photonics, agriculture and food production, and advanced manufacturing. Today, unemployment is down to the lowest levels since before the Great Recession; personal and corporate income taxes are down; and businesses are choosing places like Rochester, Batavia and Canandaigua as a destination to grow and invest in.
Now, the region is accelerating Finger Lakes Forward with a $500 million State investment through the Upstate Revitalization Initiative, announced by Governor Cuomo in December 2015. The State’s $500 million investment will incentivize private business to invest well over $2.5 billion – and the region’s plan, as submitted, projects up to 8,200 new jobs.
