Statement from Resorts World Casino New York City on Downstate Gaming Roundtable Discussion Convened by Senator Joseph Addabbo

We want to thank Senator Addabbo for convening this roundtable and for his steadfast leadership as Chair of the Racing, Gaming and Wagering committee of the New York State Senate. For more than a decade, Senator Addabbo has played an outsized role in the success of our facilities and the commensurate benefits to the people of New York State.

When we opened our racetrack casino, we pledged to provide good-paying, local jobs; generate hundreds of millions of dollars in annual revenue for the schoolchildren of New York State; and act as good neighbors to the local community where we have been privileged to operate our facilities.

Since that time, working together with our local partners, we have kept the promises we made to the State, our workforce and local communities. We have:

Created nearly 1,000, good-paying union jobs, more than 85 percent of which have gone to New York City Residents and more than half of which have gone to Queens locals;
Generated nearly $3 billion in tax revenue that goes directly to the education of New York State kids;
Partnered with dozens of non-profit organizations including the Boys & Girls Club of Metro Queens, City Harvest and the Greater Jamaica Development Corporation to provide millions of dollars in donations.

And we are continuing to grow.

This summer, Resorts World Casino New York City will open a new, 400-room, on-site hotel. This facility created more than 250 construction jobs and will offer hundreds of new, permanent union jobs when it is up and running.

Can we do even more for New York? Absolutely.

When the state decides to move forward with awarding downstate licenses, we stand ready to partner with them in that endeavor and pledge to provide good-paying jobs and education funding that will benefit local communities and the state’s near 20-million residents alike.
