Zeldin Statement on Major GOP Election Victories Across New York
NEW YORK – On Wednesday, November 8, 2023, former four-term U.S. Congressman, 2022 New York Gubernatorial candidate, and Chairman of the Leadership America Needs PAC, Lee Zeldin, released the following statement after Republicans posted major election victories across the state, continuing the momentum witnessed last year during his campaign for Governor. Zeldin has been extremely active throughout 2023 promoting local GOP candidates and traveling across the state to rally support.
For the first time in decades, the Suffolk County Executive's Office was won by a Republican, Ed Romaine. His landslide victory secured Republican control of all major offices on Long Island, including both County Executive seats, District Attorneys, and County Legislatures.
In New York City, Kristy Marmorato sent shockwaves across New York with her upset victory in the 13th New York City Council District. She is the first Republican to represent the Bronx in the City Council since 2002. Her election just goes to show how fed up New York City residents have become with pro-criminal, high-tax, sanctuary policies that have rotted the big apple.
Republicans also flipped three mayoral seats upstate. John Safford came out on top of a three-way race for Saratoga Springs Mayor, Carmela Montello is now the first female mayor ever elected in Troy, and Michael Galime rose victorious in the Utica Mayoral race.
The GOP also had multiple crucial holds in Democrat areas, which may prove to be pivotal in next year’s Congressional elections. Jen Desena won her race for North Hempstead Town Supervisor by 10 points in a Town where Democrats have a 23,000 voter registration advantage over Republicans. Mazi Melesa Pilip, from the 3rd Legislative District in Nassau County, also won her race easily, representing Great Neck, Manhasset, and Roslyn.
