TONKO GUN TOWN HALL:  Congressman Paul Tonko will host a Gun Violence Prevention Student Town Hall on Sunday, March 18th from 1:00 to 3:00pm in the H Gymnasium at Shaker High School in Latham, NY. This event is open to the public but will be focused on student engagement with the Congressman. Doors will open at 12:30pm with seating reserved for students up front. Opening remarks will start around 1:00pm followed by student questions and comments. Seats will be available to the public on a first-come first-served basis.

NEWCOMB -- SANTANONI OPEN HOUSE:  The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) is holding three Camp Santanoni Winter Weekend open house events in 2017, DEC Commissioner Basil Seggos announced today. The events, which open this historic property to the public for recreational opportunities, grow in popularity each year.
The open house events will take place the weekend of March 18 & 19. Cross-country skiers and snowshoers will have access to the historic camp properties located in the town of Newcomb in Essex County to rest and view interpretative displays, including new panels installed in 2014.

ESPAILLAT TOUR: Sunday, March 18th starting at 12:00 p.m. at the 204th street and 10th Avenue, Representative Adriano Espaillat (NY-13) will tour the designated rezoning area and affected affordable housing locations in Washington Heights and Inwood. As part of his continued calls to New York City Mayor de Blasio to ensure 100% affordable housing during the rezoning effort, Rep. Espaillat has urged the City of New York to invest in the community with creating 5,000 new affordable housing units.
As part of his advocacy for the creation of 5,000 units of affordable housing in Washington Heights and Inwood, Rep. Espaillat has also called on Con Edison, one of the largest energy companies in the United States, to fulfill their commitment to Inwood by providing land for the new affordable housing units.
Sunday’s tour will begin at 12:00 p.m. at 204th Street and 10th Avenue by the Con Edison lot. Rep. Espaillat will continue to several designated locations, including a visit to the 620 affordable housing unit site located at 207th Street that will be developed by MADDD Equities.
The Congressman will be joined by New York City Comptroller Scott Stringer, Manhattan Borough President Gale A. Brewer, Community Board 12 Chairman Shah Ally, and housing advocates during this event.

PERKINS ENDORSEMENT OF BENJAMIN: This Sunday, with six months to go before the New York State primaries, Councilmember Bill Perkins is announcing his support for State Senator Brian A. Benjamin in his first bid for re-election. Before winning his seat in the City Council, Councilmember Perkins held the seat Senator Benjamin currently holds in the State Senate.

The New York State Council on Graduate Medical Education (COGME) will meet March 19 from 10:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. at the New York State Department of Health offices at 90 Church Street, Floor 4, Rooms A & B, New York City.
The Council on Graduate Medical Education is an advisory body which provides advice to the Governor and Commissioner of Health on the formulation and implementation of State policies relating to graduate medical education and training. The membership is broadly representative of health professional, hospital and public interests.

The statewide Drinking Water Quality Council (DWQC) will hold a special meeting via video conference on March 19, 2018, 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
DWQC meetings are open to the public and will be webcast. A comment session will be held at the end of the meeting. Attendees at any of the four locations listed below will be able to provide comment during the comment session. Verbal comment is limited to 2 minutes.
The meeting locations will include:
• Albany: Corning Tower, Empire State Plaza, 14th Floor CR1
• New York City: 90 Church Street, CR4 (A & B)
